FAQ

Visa, Requirements & Eligibility
If you live in an EU, EEA country or Switzerland you do not need a work permit to seek employment in Spain. Initially you have six months to find work and after this period you must apply for a residence permit from the Spanish Immigration Office.

If you live outside of the EU and are keen to live and work in Spain, you will need to apply for a job and get hired before moving to the country. Obtaining a work permit can be tough from outside the EU but it is essential to get a residence permit to live here.

Applying to work in Spain from the UK is now a lot more difficult and complicated due to Brexit and the UK leaving the European Union. Another option is to find an employer who offers cash in hand jobs, although this does come with a risk.

Language
Knowing at least basic Spanish will really enhance your employment prospects, and also help you to integrate into the local society. If you don’t know any Spanish start learning asap, either online or booking classes.

Salaries
Generally salaries aren’t as high as France and the UK, but they are competitive by European standards compared to countries like Portugal and Italy. Wages really depends on the type of role and employer. Salaries are usually higher in the larger cities like Barcelona and Madrid compared to the islands and tourism hotspots.
