Best Places to Find Employment

Finding a paid job in Cuba is a lot more difficult than in other destinations in the Caribbean/region but it is not impossible. Some of the best places to work in Cuba include the larger towns and cities like: Havana, Santiago de Cuba, Camagüey and Holguín.

Some of the easiest ways to live and work in Cuba include getting hiring in travel and tourism, education and teaching or doing voluntary work.

Industries

Cuba’s main industries include food production with main products being seafood, citrus, tobacco, sugar, nickel and rum.

Cuba employs a socialist economic model where the state has control over a majority of the resources and most of the citizens are employed by the government. However, recently there has been a noticeable appearance of private employment sector.

New laws have recently allowed private ownership of homes and cars. Currently nearly 22 percent of the population is employed in the private sector.
